Living Emmanuel’s  Mission

The mission of Emmanuel Church, Rapidan, is to rejoice that “God is with us” as we seek to reflect God’s enduring and steadfast love shown through Jesus Christ and to manifest His love in our worship, our lives, and our community.

Rejoice that God is with us …

“Have  you seen Jesus, myLord?
He’s here  in  plain view.
Take a look, open your eyes.
He’ll show it to you.”
                         –David Slater

Seek to be aware of God in your life.

…reflecting God’s love …

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O, divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life
Amen.”
                          –St. Francis of Assisi

What kind of neighbor are you?

…manifesting God’s love in worship …

Emmanuel, Emmanuel,

His name is called Emmanuel.

God with us,revealed in us,

His name is called Emmanuel.

Who/what is Emmanuel to you?

…manifesting God’s love in our lives and our community

Christ, be our light!
Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

Make us your own, your holy people,
Light for the world to see.

Your word alone has power to save us.
Make us your living voice.

Make us your bread, broken for others,
Shared until all are fed.

Make us your building sheltering others,
Walls made of living stone.

Many the gifts, many the people,
Many the hearts that yearn to belong.
Let us be servants to one another,
Making your kingdom come.
